Default Neptune clickity clack during spin (MHW2000AWW)

    Model Number: MHW2000AWW
    Brand: Maytag

I have a Neptune 2000 series stacker that I purchased used last year for a good price. It came with the new wax motor, washer motor upgrade, and control board.

So far it has worked well. For anyone having the mold and mildew problem, it is easily prevented by leaving the door open when not in use, and occasionally running the machine empty on hot with 1/4 cup borax in the tub.

My problem is that when the machine goes into spin cycle, I hear a clickity clack sound whenever the tub shakes in the spin cycle. I can duplicate this sound when the machine is off by removing the back cover and pushing the tub up and down with my hand. As it moves up and down I hear a click-click.

The machine is balanced and stable. I checked and the shock connections to the bottom of the frame are tight.

EDIT: could a forum admin move this to the Maytag section, please? I intended to put it there, but somehow didn't get that done.

    Hi,

Sounds like your tub bearing is bad.

Now the bearings only come with the outer tub assembly# 22004465

But you can get them locally at a bearings shop in your area, this thread explains all about it:

I don't think it's the tub for several reasons:

    1. I've taken the belt off and turned the tub by hand and it spins freely and quietly.

    2. It doesn't sound like a jet taking off.

    3. There's nothing leaking out of the tub bearing area.

    4. The tub seems to bounce up and down a lot.

Are you talking about the inner basket or the whole drum assembly?
