Default Dryer stops after a few minutes with heat on - will run continuously with heat off

    Model Number: 110.63942101
    Brand: Sears Kenmore

This just started today. We set the dryer for a 60 minute run with heat on medium. After three minutes it stops. During those three minutes, it put heat out. If I start it up again, it will run a few minutes and then stop. If I change the heat level to air only, it will run continuously and not stop.

The vent is clean but I've yet to crack open the dryer to see what needs cleaning. Curious if the above symptoms are indicative of anything failing or needing cleaning?

    Thanks,

Make sure the heating element is not grounded or grounding out to the frame and staying on...

Grounded elements on electric dryers, low heat complaints, poor heat complaints, what to look for in a broken element in a dryer

If your lint filter is on top read #18 here for take-apart help:
Inglis-Whirlpool-Kenmore dryers, common repair problems, idler pulleys, belt, drum rollers, noises, how to take apart, no heat problems, replacing the drum rollers, replacing the heating element, motor problems
If the lint filter is in the door read #20

    Unplug your dryer first!

This thing is dead now with regards to running without the button being depressed. Now it only runs while the button is depressed.

I popped off the control panel (after unplugging the dryer) and found this...

The traces on the backside of the board aren't doing so well either...

The caps are both swollen on the end cap as well.

Yeah - I'd say that resistor is part of the problem... I just pressed on it and heard a light crunching sound and it fell off the PCB. I need to make a few calls in the morning.
