    Default Kenmore Elite Ice Dispenser

    Model Number: 106.57706700
    Brand: Sears Kenmore

The ice dispenser will not push ice out and the auger in the bin will not move. All other functions (water dispenser with advanced quantity functions) work. My question is how do I know if I need a new auger motor or Electronic dispenser board or both?

If you have a multimeter, you can check the voltage to the motor at pins 1 (BR/WH) and 2 (RD/WH) and/or check for resistance between the two pins. This uses a DC motor and the board simply reverses the current flow to change motor direction for crushed or cubed.

Auger motor (Part Number is 2252130)

I find the motor goes bad more than the dispenser board.

Its fairly easy to replace, its located inside your freezer door with the freezer door open look down about 3 shelves, then you will see 2 screws that sit just below that 2nd or 3rd shelf. Just take that cover off and you will see it mounted in there, then the 4 screws that mounts it, then remove it, there will be a metal rod that connects to the top of it, just install the new motor with that metal rod in the same place. And remove the electrical connector from the old one to the new one.

Now some models you have to do access the auger motor from the front dispenser:
The screws that I had to remove were actually on the outside of the freezer door. I removed the drip pan which slides out for cleaning, then removed the two screws behind it. That allowed the front panel to slide off. Then I just removed the four screws holding the motor in place. Before you can remove the motor, you have to open the freezer, take the ice holder out and remove the 2 screws holding the turning mechanism in place. One you do that, you have to remove all of those parts including the long metal pole which is inserted into the motor.

Thanks for the replies. One more question, which electronic control board is pertinent to this ice dispenser? According to the parts lists, there are two electronic controllers. (schematic #12: 2252174 or #16: 2304142) I am guessing #12 controls this motor function... Thank you!
