Default KitchenAid Convection Oven Making Fan Noise

    Model Number: KEBC177HWH0
    Brand: KitchenAid
    Age: 6-10 years

This single door unit is making a grinding fan-type sound on both convection and non-convection operation. I presume it is the cooling fan - but need idea on how to get at that one to replace. Or is it some other problem? Any tech sheets available?

    Default Full Model Number reply

It looks like the additional model info is the 4 characters at the end: HWHO. That would make it : KEBC177HWH0

    Thanks,

Ok, yes, Its likely your fan motor, its located in the very back of your oven, you'd need to pull it out from the wall, unplug your range, and take the back access panel off to access it.

Turn the fan motor and blade with your hand and see if it makes that noise.

Here's the fan for your model:

is that the convection fan or the cooling fan? Sound seems to be coming more from top than back.
    Thanks

Jake? I didn't see a reply to you on this but just posted my own issue with a New noisy KitchenAid Countertop convection oven model KCO223CU1 that sounds like a fan or motor issue.
Has there been any word out on these products since 2004?

What do you mean? Like recalls?

    Not that I'm aware of.

i replaced the oven in my initial post back in 2011 with a Whirlpool knowing they are same as KA. new one was a mess at first with failing door latching circuits, but is noisy now due to rack vibration if they arent tweaked when you load them. have asked a non-affiliated 25 year experienced service guy about going to LG, but he says they have a very high incidence of service problems on theirs also. dont know where to turn o for a good oven tgat cooks quitely

Yes, he's correct about the LG ones having a high incidence of service problems on theirs.

I'd suggest Maytag, that's what I have in my kitchen, and it works like a charm, no noise!
