    Default Whirlpool F28

    Model Number: WFW8300SW00
    Brand: Whirlpool
    Age: 6-10 years

    WFW8300SW00

    Guys,

I have a Whirlpool Duet front loader that has finally quit and is showing a code of F28.

The machine has been giving me problems for awhile now. It would run and then stop if the load became to heavy. So we reduced our loads (my wife gets carried away sometimes). This helped for awhile but the problem started ocurring more often. The machine would not run or stop mid-cycle and we would have to unplug the machine, manually unlock the door and wait a little bit. Sometimes there wouldn't be an error code for a while.

I have looked at the options on the internet for awhile and I have tried them out on the machine but to no avail.

All the links for manuals and such provided by all these sources seem not to work.

    Any ideas?

Is it a MCU & CCU? Or is it time for a new washer?

The F28 code is a comm failure between the MCU and the CCU. First, check the wiring harnes connections to the MCU, the Motor, and the CCU. Make sure all the connections are tight and there are no ground wires off. Then check the connections of the CCU board within the housing.

Yes, I read a couple past members that diagnosed it as the MCU being the cause more than the CCU.

So you can order the MCU and/or the CCU, then I'd install the MCU first to see if that fixes it.

Here's the CCU for your model:
    Manufacturer's Number: W10205839

Here's the MCU for your model:
Manufacturer part number W10197864 is RepairClinic item number 1468996

We have a special program here, all parts you order from our links we post are returnable within 365 days for a FULL refund if they don't fix the problem.

Thanks for that info. After the unit had been off awhile I plugged it back in and changed to the delicate option and its been working so far. Do you think it is still the MCU or other?

Its really hard to tell or not if its the MCU, I'd take your MCU out and look at it for possible burned spots on the board first.
