Default Problem with GE Triton XL

    Model Number: GSD6600G00WW
    Brand: GE
    Age: 6-10 years

My GE Triton XL dishwasher stoped halfway thru it"s cycle. All the lights on the front pannel went off, so I assumed it threw a breaker but when I reset at my electric pannel it didnt do anything. I disconnected my water and returne lines and pulled it out the lights came on and it started pumping out water so I opened disnwasher's front door. I thought this ment I had a loose wire. I checked the connection where the elec. attached to washer and it looked ok. I reattached the hoses and pushed it back in but it does not work and doesn't light the front pannel. I have messed with the wires and reset elec. box a bunch of times but can't get it to come back on. Does this washer have a reset button?

    No reset.

First thing I'd check is the metal junction box where your main power comes in, I've seen so many either arc or burn the wire nuts that connect the main power to your dishwasher.

Here's the diagram, remove the bottom access panel first #756, then the junction box is #743. Make sure your breaker is OFF first before opening that junction box.

    Jake,
thank you for the help. You were right on the money about the ark and meltdown in the metal junction box where my main power comes in. (It was toast)Now that i know where the problem is do I just rewire at that location or cut back and bring in a new piece straight from the wall?

If you have enough slack in the wiring, just cut the burned spots and splice, Use new wire nuts and make sure they both are tight.
