Default Series 70 Kenmore washer won't spin, only makes a low buzzing sound

    Model Number: Series 79
    Brand: Sears Kenmore
    Age: More than 10 years

I have a sears kenmore series 70 washer, today we found water at the bottom of the washer with the clothes, when we tried to spin it out it makes a low buzzing sound but does not spin. If I keep clicking the dial it does eventually spin out, but it makes a loud clanging sound. Could this be the clutch not kicking in?

    Thanks for any advice.

No, if you found water at the bottom of the tub with the clothes, then it sounds more like your water pump may have a foreign object in it, thus the noise and incomplete drain.

We need the model# of your washer. Click here to locate it.
