    Default GE Profile Top Loading Machine stopping in mid cycle

    Model Number: WPGT9350COWW
    Brand: GE
    Age: 6-10 years

    I have a GE Profile top loading machine that was in the home when I purchased it a year and a half ago. This past week it began stopping and shutting off in mid cycle. It seems there is not consistency when it shuts off. There have been times where it has stopped before the rinse and spin cycle, thus leaving the tub full of clothes and water. The only way I have found to remedy this is to manually go to the spin cycle setting.

    I have also seen the screen go black and the machine stop working at other points in the cycle though. It doesn't seem to be a consistent spot.

    Any idea what would cause this, and how can I fix it?

    Thank you!

    I haven't worked on any of these GE Harmony models, but here's the repair manual for it that may help you out:
    www.applianceblog.com/manuals/31-9103_GEharmonyWasher.pdf

    You have 2 major boards, the display board and control board that are extremely costly.

    Display board(WH12X10246):
    Manufacturer's Number: WH12X10246

    Control board(WH12X10245):
    Manufacturer's Number: WH12X10245

    Thank you for the response. I suppose I should call a repairman. It doesn't list anything in the manual...

    I pushed 'back' and my cycles' while in the help menu and received the two following issues...

    1. the inverter pcb has a history of not running properly

    2. serial communication link between main pcb and inverter pcb is down

    does this mean anything? it then told me it needed to be serviced. i had to unplug the machine, waited a few minutes and then plugged it back in. it ran though a setup or testing buttons, sensors, water system, etc. and said the machine is ready for use.

    thoughts?

    Nope, sorry, don't know anything about these.

    Did you try to use it when it said ready to use?

    yes i did try it. it stopped mid way through the rinse cycle. I tried to restart the cycle by going through the program and selecting 'rinse and spin', and it shut off before the rinse even started.

    we haven't decided if we are going to call a repairman, or just start researching a new washer. any advice on a new washer?

    I always recommend Whirlpool, very reliable. Front-load or Top-load.
