Default magic chef w/uniburners, oven problem

    Model Number: 31FA-7
    Brand: Magic Chef
    Age: More than 10 years

When lighting the oven, the pilot is lit but the burner (the thing will alot of holes in it and the flame comes out of it) will only stay lit for a couple sec. then it will go
off for a couple sec. then back on for a couple sec. and will do this for hours.
    Thanks for any help!

Re-check your model number. Read it from the range. Nothing comes up with that number. Look where manifold for that burner is connected to the surface unit valve and you'll see an air adjustment. Close it a bit more but not all the way closed.

yes it is a magic chef with uniburners model number 31FA-7. I got that from under the lid of the range top. It is a gas model. Please explain a little more. I do not know nothing about ovens.I do not know what a survace unit valve is. Is the air adjustment a screw?? Thanks for helping. Sorry I do know understand. I am looking right at it so if you describe it I will understand better. Thanks

OK it sounds like there is a problem with the oven safety valve. When you turn the oven on, the pilot light kicks on a secondary flame on the bulb of the gas safety valve thermocouple. Make sure it is doing this and the thermocouple is in the right place. If it is then you may have to replace the gas safety valve and pilot assembly:
