Default GE Fridge PFS22SISBSS not cooling AFTER mainboard / motherboard replacement

    Model Number: PFS22SISBSS
    Brand: GE
    Age: 6-10 years

The temperature display on my fridge went blank and stopped cooling, there was a clicking sound coming from the motherboard panel, and it was warm.
Replaced the motherboard, temperature lights up and fridge runs, but does not get cool. The interior fans are running as well as the condenser / compressor fan. The compressor was quite warm to the touch after leaving the fridge on overnight after replaceing the motherboard.

What else should I be looking at to get this thing working again.

It was unplugged for 3 days while waiting for the part. I took that time to clean / remove all the dust (and chreerios) from under neath

    Thanks!

Is the compressor actually running though? Put your hand on the top of it and see if its vibrating.

    Jake,
After posting, I went and checked and unfortunately, the compressor is not running. I am hoping it is the start run overload relay, as is clicks about every 2 - 5 minutes - I took the relay off and it has a slight rattle. I'm going to have a local parts place test it for me tomorrow. If the relay turns out to be good, I guess it'll be a compressor repair, which from what I gather is about a $500-$700 repair.
    Thanks,
    Jay

    Ok Jay,

Where did you buy the motherboard at? It may be defective, read this post here, its identical to your problem with your exact same model: FIXED GE model PFS22SISASS won't cool. Embraco EGZ type compressor won't start

So if the relay tests find and it was colling before you installed the motherboard, I'll bet you 100 to 1 that you got a defective motherboard.

    Let us know.

I got it from Sears Appliance parts. Is there a way to test the motherboard? It does sound just like that other post...
My sister in law just bought one of these fridges new, I'm gonna tell her to buy the 10 year repair plan, something I rarely do

No way I know of to test these motherboards. You can return that motherboard and say its defective and Sears should give you an exchange.

    Jake,
I just contacted Sears and there sending me out another one at no cost.

My fingers are crossed that this one will turn on the compressor.

I took the relay to an appliance parts store. They were very helpful, and tested the capacitor on the relay, shook, and even smelled the relay, and said this isn't bad - If it was it would fall apart in your hand or sound like a baby rattle.
They said they had seen boards fail immediately so no surprise. Also gave me the 1/3 - 1/2 lesson and said even at about $600 for a compressor replacement it would still be cost effective to fix than to replace...
The board has been shipped from Sears and is in NC, so I should get it today or tomorrow.
