Default KitchenAid dishwasher has become progressively louder

    Model Number: KUDS01IJBS0
    Brand: KitchenAid
    Age: 6-10 years

My KitchenAid dishwasher has recently become progressively louder during the entire wash cycle however still washes the dishes. I think it may be the bearing in the motor and am thinking i should just replace the motor. Any thoughts?

I suspect you are correct. You can buy just the motor, which is much less expensive, but a little more labor intensive, or replace the sump/motor assy. The water seal does fail and cause rust/corrosion on the motor shaft/bearing, hence, noise. If the machine is closer to 10yrs, make sure all the racks are in good shape, the tub gasket isn't torn, the control panel isn't falling apart before you spend any $$. 10 yrs is pretty old for these "new" appliances. jb

    Yes, I agree with JBall.

You have two choices below to order, the motor just itself, or the sump/motor assembly which includes the motor already installed into the sump, as well as a new chopper blade screen assembly, check valve.

Here's the motor for your model you can order here:

Just spray silicone lubricant on the door springs.

Or replace the door link kit. The original has friction slides and as the rope looses it's coating it becomes noisy. The new kit has two rollers and an improved design of the rope (link).
