Unhappy need heating element for Maytag model number MCE8000AYQ

    Model Number: MCE8000AYQ
    Brand: Maytag
    Age: 6-10 years

The title says it all. I am needing a heating element for this Maytag Neptune drying system and am hoping that perhaps someone has one they cannot use. Even a used one would work if it's not broken on one leg. My warehouse says it's no longer available, and there is no substitute.

I show it as NLA also. You might check eBay for one. 31001746 is a restring kit for it.

Well I found one place that has the restring kit so that's what I'm going to do. Thanks. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Well I went and ordered it and it came in the other day. I just now got around to doing the restring and the kit will not work. I know this sounds strange, but the coils are going in the wrong direction. It coils from left to right, and it needs to coil from right to left. It does not matter how you hold it, or what you do with it, you cannot change the direction of the coils. The way it mounts on the frame requires the coils to be going in a certain direction, and if they are going in the other direction it will not mount. The ceramic insulators for the longer coil are molded to hold the coil only one way. If it could somehow be mounted in the wrong direction it would ground out on the frame piece that holds the insulators. I will be calling the company in the morning to talk to them, but I'm afraid any other ones they have will be the same.

What they sent was manufactured by Supco and is actually part number DE1746C. "Dryer Element Replaces 31001746C" according to the pkg.

Thats weird, I've never had to change one of these as of yet, so I can't be of much help on how to install it.
