Default Please HELP-Maytag Icemaker not working

    Model Number: MFI2569VEM2
    Brand: Maytag
    Age: 1-5 years

Hello. I am glad I discovered this site.

I have a Maytag French door fridge, freezer on bottom. Icemaker is in top left inside of the fridge. It's not working, though water is still dispensed. Tried the hair dryer inside, didn't work.

Fridge is not even two years old; Maytag instruction manual is, shall we say, deficient--I have no idea how to get this icemaker out of the fridge. I've searched the web and found references to removing screws, but I don't see any. All I see is a plastic tab in the lower left-hand corner of the icemaker itself.

Can anyone advise how to remove this icemaker? I expect I will need to replace the whole icemaker?

    Thanks!

Yes, if there is ice in the ice maker and its not dumping it then your ice maker is bad.

Here's the ice maker for your model you can order here:
    Manufacturer's Number: W10190981

Look at this diagram of it, see the screw #18 there are 2 of those on the very top in those 2 notches, you will need a 1/4" nut-driver or socket to remove those:

There is no ice in the icemaker--no water is getting to it at all.

Not sure I understand from the diagram exactly where the screws are that I need to remove?

See the screws in the diagram? look for the number 18 in the diagram, those are the screws that hold the ice maker to the side of your freezer.

If no water/ice is in the ice maker tray check for a ice clog in the fill tube that goes to the ice maker.

    hello all!

I am having the exact same issue with the exact same unit...
my ice maker stopped making ice, but the water in the door is still working. also the milk in the door has been freezing solid.

I had the maytag repair man out to look at it and he said i needed a new ice maker and that the unit was $109 dollars. then he said it was $88 dollars to install it.
I think i will order one and fix it myself. I just hope this is really what the problem is since the unit is only 14 months old...

Yes, then you need that same ice maker I linked to above.

Remember all parts you order through our links come with a 365 day full refund even if you install the ice maker and it doesn't fix it, just ship it back.

Thanks again. I received the new icemaker in the mail today.

    I also have a 1/4 inch nutdriver.

I still cannot get the old icemaker out. In the above diagram part number 12 is still on the face of the icemaker. Do I need to remove that? The whole icemaker still sits in the sleeve at the top left of the fridge giving me very little access to the screws at number 18. in fact, when I reach in I can feel the slots but I cannot feel any screws. If I pull a little to the right on the icemaker, it seems to be attached elsewhere. Am I supposed to be doing anything with the plastic tab at the bottom left of the icemaker?

I consider myself decently handy and I must say this is a tough job.

I am going through the same problem as you did. I do not see the number 18 screw - before finding this site, I did take out the three screws on on the bottom of the ice maker - but it seems attached somewhere. I can pull the ice maker off the side of the fridge a bit, so I'm pretty sure there is no #18 screw. But, I have been wrong before.

Please send any advice you have - thanks
