Default The washer makes loud screeching noise when spinning

    Model Number: LSB6000PQ0
    Brand: Whirlpool
    Age: 6-10 years

I have a Whirlpool. Model number: LSB6000PQ0. Been having it for about 7 years. Last few days, it makes very loud screeching noise when spinning at started for about 20 seconds, then lower and gone. Next spin, the sound's back again.

Its pump was broken two months ago and I got the part and fixed. It's been fine since. Not sure if it's relate.

Lets start with the simplest part first, check the motor coupling to see if the rubber is worn down on it, this part is just like a belt on belt drive models.

You can also take the pump off and run it in spin and see if the noise is gone or not as well.

You will need to by-pass the lid switch when you do this.

Leave the water pump off the motor then put the washer in spin and see if the noise is still present, if not, order a new water pump.

FYI, for anyone else suffering the same symptoms, my squealing problem was the water pump. A piece of small plastic made it in there and got lodged inside so this fixed my problem.

    Jake, thanks for the help!
