Default Ice cubes in bin melt and freeze together

    Model Number: MTF2176HRQ
    Brand: Maytag
    Age: 6-10 years

Unit stopped defrosting 2 weeks ago, I had the defrost timer and thermostat replaced. Now the unit cools great and makes lots of ice, but the cubes melt in the bin and freeze together. Is the defrost cycle too long? Is the defrost timer adjustable? Freezer temp is between 0 and +10 degrees.

The defrost timer's defrost cycle is about 21 minutes and is non-adjustable. That shouldn't produce enough heat to melt the ice unless the freezer was completely empty. Even then it shouldn't but does sometimes. Is the door seal closing good?

Thanks for the reply. The seal apears to be good, lots of food in the freezer. The cubes on top of the bin melt, the cubes at the bottom do not. Didn't have this problem before timer was replaced. I'm mostly worried about my frozen food getting freezer burn from thaw/freeze cycles

Did you replace the timer with the correct part. The defrost timer is 10 hour timer

I'm not sure, I had a local service company do the repair. I will have to investigate. Thanks
