Default Whirlpool Oven Will not Self Clean Error Code E1 F5

    Model Number: RF386PXGQ0
    Brand: Whirlpool
    Age: More than 10 years

Hello, we have a Whirlpool oven that will no longer self clean, after the self clean is started the Error Code E1 F5 is diaplayed on the readout, I have searched the web and have found different issues with different model's stating that there may be a problem with the latch assy. I worked the latch assy with the power off and the back cover removed and there is no obstruction of the mechanism. I have tried to hold the cancel button to display the error code to display the the code, then pressed again to Supposedly clear the error, but if I Press any button to get the code to change nothing happens after 1 min. of holding down any button. I'm at a loss, Is it possible that the Solenoid Assy is bad? Can anyone help? Thanx.................

Yes, that error code indicates you will need a new lock solenoid assembly.

    Default Lock Solenoid Assy

Hey Jake, thank you for the quick responce, it is a Whirlpool: RF386PXGQ-0 S/N: RH4416171
I believe the P/N for that assy, if that is exactly what I need is a 3196125. I had checked the latch mechanism and nothing appears to be binding in any way, by manually pulling on the latch the door locks and unlocks with the power removed of course. Please tell me what I need to order for sure, if that is it then Great, thank you. Please advise when you can.

I don't know Marc, I've never direct tested it like that before.

It should be just standard 120 volts to engage the solenoid, no harm to try.

HI Guys: I'm having the same problem. I found the part linked above. Question. How do you get the side panel off to replace the solenoid? I've already had the back top panel off to replace the keypad, but don't see a way to get to that side panel. Thanks.. Chris
