Default Whirlpool Washer Ultimate Care ii

    Model Number: SM 8280867
    Brand: Whirlpool
    Age: 6-10 years

    Hello,

The washer seems to work fine during wash cycle but when i turn the timer to rinse or spin cycle it seems to do nothing. I have been researching other forums but not sure if I need to replace the timer or the lid switch. How do i know if the timer is not working properly? Sorry I cannot seem to find the model number right now. This is the Ultimate Care II Quiet Wash, 9 Cycles, 5 Speed Combinations.

    Thanks for your help.

Does it drain the water fine and just not spin?

When you move the timer to rinse it should fill with cold water, its not doing that? But is filling with cold water in the wash cycle?

The water does not drain, nor does it fill with cold water when I move the timer to rinse. Yes seems to be filling with cold water in the wash cycle.

When you close your lid, do you hear a click sound just before it shuts? If not, then its your lid switch.

If so, then its your timer.

Thats the problem, I can't link you to the correct part without a model#.

You will need to remove the lid switch assembly and read me the part# thats stamped on it.

Watch this video to remove it:
