Default Maytag MBR2258XES1 leaking water on floor, ice on bottom of freezer

    Model Number: MBR2258XES1
    Brand: Maytag
    Age: 1-5 years

I have a Maytag fridge with freezer on the bottom (Model MBR2258XES1). I have been finding puddles of water on the floor beneath the corners of the freezer and there is a sheet of ice on the bottom of the freezer. I have seen the water coming out of the freezer a few times--it seems to originate from the back wall of the freezer

I read several other threads with the same problem on other models but am not sure where the drain is in this model, or how/if the back of the freezer can be removed.

    Thanks for any assistance!

You'll have to remove any ice maker and freezer shelves. The center air vent will un-clip from the back wall then remove the back wall. From there you can access the drain hole. Unplug the machine and use a hair dryer to melt all the ice out. Run very hot water down it to clean it out.

Rick, I have the same problem in my Maytag model RSW25E0D. The back wall is secured with 8 screws. I have been told the drain line is clogged. I would prefer to access the line from inside the unit as the refrigerator is very tightly squeezed under a cupboard and next to a cabinet. Is it as simple as removing the panel and accessing the drain line?

Gregg, I can't get anything to come up with that model number. Can you recheck it. Read it from the tag on the machine. Click here then follow the link “Help me find my model number” Appliance Parts at RepairClinic. 125 Brands. 365 Day Returns.
