Question Kenmore Washer slow to spin up

    Model Number: 110.20922990
    Brand: Sears Kenmore
    Age: More than 10 years

The age is a guess. I have a Kenmore washer with a strange problem. It washes fine. It runs through the wash cycle with no problems. Then on the rinse cycle it will pump the water out and when it tries to get into the spin cycle it has problems. It seems to be spinning at half speed and is making an almost constant clicking noise. Sort of like a relay clicking in and out. Then eventually it clicks one last time and spins up like it should. Once it spins up, it will spin up the next time if I stop it and then restart it. It only happens in the rinse cycle. I am at a loss as to what it is and why it only happens in the rinse cycle and not in the wash cycle.

As always, any assistance is greatly appreciated.

It's most likely the brake cam driver on the bottom of the spin tube. The white piece in this picture:

Here it is off the spin tube and how it sits in the clutch. It's probably worn down and hitting the clutch spring then skipping over it until it makes contact

Thanks for the quick reply Rick. I just happen to have one of those hanging around so I'll swap it out tomorrow and see if it helps. I'll let you know how it turns out.
