Default Maytag QuietSeries 200 won't start or even turn on

    Model Number: MDB7751AWS
    Brand: Maytag
    Age: 1-5 years

    Hi,

My Maytag quietseries 200 doesn't start or even turn-on. No lights at all when I press Start/Cancel button. I follow
the repair manual and check the junction box. The repair manual says that at the junction box there should be 105V (minimum)
but I when I measure it, it has 120V. What could be the problem?

    Thanks

Check the door latch assembly and the two micro-switches. I've seen a broken latch cause that problem or a faulty switch can cause that problem.

What to check with the door latch? Physically they look good. Any voltage or resistance that I need to check?

Check the micro-switches for continuity with an ohmmeter.

I checked the micro-switches and they're good. When the button is press, no continuity. When the button is not press, there is continuity. Anything else to check?

You better recheck the switches because if that's really what you measured, they're bad. When the door is latched the micro switch button is pressed in by the latch. When the button is pressed in on the switch, the switch is closed and should show continuity.

The way I checked it is by removing the micro switches from the door latch. After removing them from the door latch, I press the button and no continuity but when the button is not press, there is continuity. They are good both of them. These switches are normally close, meaning it has continuity when the the button is not press.

OK, listen up my friend, If you have the wires on COM and NC on both switches and when the door is closed the buttons on the switch are pressed in, you're not getting any power to the control because like you just said,

Ok let me ask you this, don't think about the door latch. Let's say you have the micro switch on your hands, what is the normal condition of the switch?

Like I said I removed the micro switch from the door latch (micro switch not attached to the door latch anymore) to isolate the problem and test the continuity.

It depends on where the wires are connected. One wire will be connected to the COM terminal on the switch. There are two more terminals on the switch, NC and NO. Now sometimes on those switches they leave off one terminal if they don't need but it could be either terminal. So look on the switch at the terminals where the wire is connected. If it's NO then the normal condition of the switch is open, no continuity. If the wire is on NC then the normal condition is closed, continuity. Now do you understand the switch has two Normal conditions, NO (Normally Open) and NC (Normally Closed).
