Maytag MDB4100 Spray Arm Removal
Does anyone know how to remove the spray arm from a Maytag MDB4100 dishwasher. The spray arm has a plastic insert with slots in it. It does not have a spray tower. The plastic insert moves freely and can be pulled up and turned, but nothing happens when I do that.

how to remove the spray arm
Lower, unscrew #34 and lift off the arm assembly....
Upper, grab the middle of the spray arm and yank down hard.

Thanks, that worked
Thanks Jeff. That worked. There was alot of calcium and lime encrusted on the lower arm that I didn't see that the cap could be removed. It took some effort, but finally the cap moved and I was able to remove the lower spray arm.

run a cycle with four glasses in upper shelf in upright position, one per corner. With no other dishes in unit, Fill each glass with 8 oz TANG orange drink powder. Let unit run a full cycle. Water will fill glasses during cycle and provide a constant flow of solution. This helps clean up calcium and generally leaves behind a pleasant smell. Cheaper than glisten and works just fine.
