Cool maytag dishwasher makes loud noise when running

    Model Number: MDC4809AWW4
    Brand: Maytag
    Age: 1-5 years

I got a Maytag dishwasher that is just a couple years oldand has started making a loud rattling noise when it is running. There is plenty of water in the dishwasherwhen it is running and it fills and drains at a good rate and it seems to getthe dishes clean but it is very loud and annoying. Does anyone know of anything that could cause this? Something else is wrong with the washerbecause it only will run on heavy load so I donít know if that has anything todo with the noise problem or not. So i need some help or suggestions please let me know.

Sounds like something caught in the pump or drain impellers. #6 is the chopper assembly and it's common for them to fall apart and #20 is the wash impeller. I've seen things like tooth picks, olive pits and even bread ties get caught in the wash impeller. A broken impeller on the drain pump could also cause that noise

Default maytag dishwasher makes loud noise when running

How do you get into the pump and drain impellers? Do you go threw the bottom of the dishwasher or threw the inside of the dishwasher?

Ok well thanks guys that fixed that problem but now i have another problem. When the dishwasher is running it gets stuck on the wash cycle and wont stop washing and it also seems like none of the buttons work on the control pannel. Its just stuck on normal wash you can push heavy or any of the other buttons and it wont change the only two buttons that work on it are start and cancel. What would cause this and how do i fix it?

The dishwasher getting stuck in the wash cycle sounds like a bad control board, then your button issues sounds like a short in your control panel.

Its very uncommon to see both of these parts go bad at the same time, you should have a tech. data sheet behind your lower bottom access panel, which should tell you how to ohm test the control panel.

    Here's the control panel for your model: Whirlpool W10255080 Panel-Cntl - AppliancePartsPros.com

    Here's the control board for your model: Whirlpool W10285180 Cntrl-Elec - AppliancePartsPros.com

If your unsure then I'd order both parts and return the one you don't need for a full refund, less shipping.

It won't lose any water from just washing. You can remove the lower panel and use a flash light to look around under there for any leaks but it sounds like it could be related to the control board. Especially if the low water is intermittent.
