Maytag Dryer Loud Screeching
We have a Maytag dryer (Model # MDE5500AZW) that is making a very loud screeching sound. The sound is also made when I manually turn the (drum?) of the dryer by hand. How do I go about fixing this?

It sounds like the front glides are shot. usually when it sounds that bad the drum is shot also. What happens is, the glides wear out, then the felt pad wears out, then the front of the drum is riding on metal and eventually wears a hole right through it. You'll need to lift the top then take the front panel off. Remove the four screws in the front shroud and if there's no holes in the drum, replace the glides.
