    Default GE washer repair

    Model Number: whdrr418g2ww
    Brand: GE
    Age: 1-5 years

    washer will not spin.. code says brake resistor open. rep-lace motor (brake) what and where is this, how much $$.

    Are you sure you posted the correct model#? I don't see a brake resistor or inverter on this model.

    This doesn't make any sense to me then, brake resistor and inverter are only on models with an electronic control board, that model# you posted only has a timer no control board in the control panel.

    The GE washers with motor/inverter are used on both timer style and electronic control board style. The brake resistor is built into the top cover of the inverter and is not replaceable. You must replace the entire motor/inverter.
