Post [FIXED] Kenmore Series 80 Washer won't spin or agitate

    Model # 1110 21882 001

Washer will fill, drianand move through cycles - just won't agitate or spin. Makes a buzzing type sound while spin/agitation should be occuring. Am unable to locate my manual.

Have seen several posts with similar Kenmore problems (is there a defect with this particular washer?), but have been unable to find my particular model number. Single mom hopes that someone out there will be able to help me w/out having to call the really expensive repairman...

    Thanks in Adavnce!!

Try 110.21882001 as a model number - this sounds like a broken coupler. Some excellent info on how to replace at:

    http://www.applianceaid.com/procedures.html

    Simple and "relatively" easy fix.

I was looking for a service manual for my Kenmore Elite 90 Washing Machine model 11026952690 or 110.26952690, but found this link instead. I was exactly what I needed! I was able to fix the motor coupler for around $20 in parts & shipping

    Thanks very much!

Thanks, yea, I have worked on my car and fixed it by coming to a forum like this for cars about 5 years ago, and the Dodge dealer here in our town didn't have a clue of what was wrong.

There's lots of auto forums online.

Thumbs up Kenmore Series 80 decroded coupler

I am just writing to say THANK YOU for this website-blog!! I was able to follow the directions found via a link in a post about a washer like mine that wouldn't spin or agitate and that link had excellent step by step how-to's with photos on how to take apart my machine and I am happy to say I have successfully gutted my machine and found the crumbled broken coupler and the gasket that was torn and getting finely shaved.

I will get to the Sears part store this weekend and buy a new coupler and post again if I am successfully washing the teenager's smelly sports gear by Monday!! I am still going to buy an identical $40 Kenmore washer off of craigslist this weekend too just to have an extra machine. The owner of that machine just replaced his coupler 3 months ago and alerted me that the machine will likely need a new cam-shaft thingee soon as his wife always overloads the machine and he'll show me how to do that.

This single mom thanks you Jake so much for this site!!

    Default Thanks for the help

I had googled washer wont agitate and spin and found this site saying most likely the motor coupler. I followed the suggestion to go to the web link appliance aid and was happy to say that with the excellent step by step directions with photos I very easily removed the old coupler and installed the new one I purchased online from Sears ($20.00).
And I might just add that I am a 56 year old women with no experiece in washer repair but damned if I wanted to buy a new washer. Thank you, thank you thank you for your help.
I'm feeling like a rockstar today
