Default GE Profile bottom freezer: ice builds up on freezer bottom, water leaks onto floor

    Model Number: TCS18PADBRBS
    Brand: GE
    Age: 6-10 years

I have a GE Profile TCS18PAD refrigerator with bottom freezer (diagram at Parts for GE TCS18PADBRBS Refrigerator - AppliancePartsPros.com ). It worked fine for over five years, but within the last few months ice has started building up inside the freezer. It looks like water is coming from the middle of the top back and running down onto the freezer floor. Also, a lot more water has begun dripping onto the kitchen floor below the fridge.

Everything I read on the internet says that the problem is a clog where water runs out below the fan at the back of the fridge below the bottom refrigerator shelf, maybe caused by an ice buildup.

But when I took the fridge apart and looked at that area, there was very little ice buildup-- just a thin, even coating on the coils. And, the channel below the fan seems totally clear: I ran a bottle brush (the only thing I had handy) through it, and it went through effortlessly and came out completely clean.

Here are pictures of the area I'm talking about. The white in the first one is just the flash, not ice! But it shows that the hole at the back at least doesn't look blocked. The second one shows that there is no ice.

Is there someplace else that might be clogged to cause these problems? What should I check?

    Thanks for any advice!

Hmm, might have been a little ice but hot water poured through the drain tube flowed right through.

The problem is back as bad as ever today, though, there is water on the floor and already a frozen trickle starting right below the drain tube in the freezer.

Any suggestions what I should try? Or any recommendations of how to find a good refrigerator repair guy in the Boston area?

    Thanks!

I don't think you have defrost drain issue if you defrosted the drain yesterday and it's leaking again today. That machine goes into defrost every 10-12 hours and the amount of water from one defrost cycle is minimal. Do you have an ice maker installed? Try turning the water off to the machine and see if it stops leaking
