Default KitchenAid dishwasher water won't drain

    Model Number: KUDM01FKSS1
    Brand: KitchenAid
    Age: 6-10 years

My dishwasher has water that will not drain, it seems clean. I've vacuumed it out and cleaned any debris that was in the chopper, ran another cycle and it was still not draining.

    What could it be?

    thanks

    Hi,

Is the drain pump working? Often start with, is the drain pump getting power or not.....getting power and the drain system ( all the way from the d/w to the house drain ) is clear = new drain pump time...

...set the d/w to drain, set meter to test 120 volts AC and touch one meter lead to one of the wires to the pump and other meter lead to the other wire going to the pump.

I've touched the multimeter leads to each wire from the pump. And I'm getting a reading of 08.0 and 07.9 What does that mean?

    At the same time?

    Across the 2 wires?
If yes, that would be no power to the drain pump.

So if there is no power to the drain pump, what's the problem?

A broken/bad wire between the control and pump is always possible, esp where the door bends to open and close...this is rare but very possible. Failing that, no power fom the control

So I disconnected the two leads from the drain motor and I connected the multimeter to the leads with the dishwasher running a rinse cycle and I get 40.6 Volts. Is that ok?

Nope, should have 110-120 volts AC across the wires when the drain pump is engaged.
