Default GE -Side by side- No water from dispenser, but Ice okay

Hi, My GE side by side - Model #GSL25JFPC - 2 year old is having problem of water from Dispenser. I need to switch off Freezer almost everyday for 1-2 hours to get the water. The Freezer setting is at 2. I run wire through the water pipe to see, if there's any blockage, but it's clear. Any body has any idea, what could be the problem and what's fix. I believe it's not shielding or rubber gasket problem. Any help will be appreciated on this issue.
    Thanks & Rgds

Sounds like the plastic water tube in the freezer door is freezing on you. Try setting the freezer temp. control to 1.

Buy a freezer thermometer at any grocery or home goods store, to check what the freezer temp. is.

Or you can order it here:

Anybody has any luck, I am still having the similar problem, I am thinking to call GE Tech support to fix the problem, although the warranty is over.

If your water is freezing in the water line, then there is a very good chance that it's not freezing in the door but in the refrigerator where it's stored in a large coil of water line or a bladder. Disconnect the water line at the connector by the lower freezer dood hinge. Use a pan or something to catch the water. Push the water switch and see if water comes out at the connector. If not, then water is freezing before it even gets to the door. Replace the cold control for the refrigerator.

Thanks Ric for reply.I opened up the pipe underneath the door and press the plastic lever switch from the dispenser and water is coming from there at full speed, but once I reconnet again, there's no water. I switch off the freezer and water came after 4 -5 hour, which is the problem and shut down again after 5-6 hour time frame. I checked the freezer temp., it's normal and changed the water filter too. Any more idea or recommendation. Thanks and Regds

OK, going by your description, it sounds like the line is freezing in the door. The next step is to find out where. First check the flapper and make sure it's closing all the way. I would guess it's freezing right around that area. You may have to disasemble the dispencing unit to see where its freezing. Make sure you do it when it is frozen so you can see where the line has ice. When I looked this model up it didn't show a heater on the flapper but I seem to remember seeing one on a GE I had in my shop. Jake, have you seen one with a heater?

Thanks Jack again for your quick reply and support. I checked the rubber Gasket, which goes all around the door and look like, it's sealed and seated well in the groove and I didn't see any damage or any sign of damage, which can create ice. Also, do you have any instructions to open the dispensing unit for this model. if I got that, it will easier for me to open the unit and see the real problem, which may help others too or if you know any source, where I can find the instruction, please let me know.

Thanks in advance for your kind support.

Did you look at the flapper to make sure it was closing all the way ? Thats the piece that opens to let the ice through the door.

Yes, I checked the flapper with naked eye, it's very tight and closed all the way. I didn't see any damage or wear & tear on flapper. I checked 2 times once after shutting down the light and by putting the light from torch to see any damage, but nothing. It looks okay..
    Thanks
