    Default Kenmore HE2 Washer INOP

    Model Number: 110.46472501
    Brand: Sears Kenmore
    Age: 1-5 years

My Kenmore HE2 Washer will not operate -- I get the error codes indicating a drain problem. I've checked all the obvious -- hoses,pumps...etc. There doesn't seem to be a problem...I can manually put water in the machine and use the pump to remove it but whenever I try to start a new cycle...the machine pumps for a few minutes then displays the error code again. Any help?

Hey, thanks for the response...Model 110.46472501...the error code is indicated as illuminated lights -- "add a garment", "rinse", and "clothes clean".

    How old is your washer?

I can't seem to locate any error code list online for this model.

Did you try to unplug your washer for about 5 minutes and see if it resets?

    Jake,

    I appreciate your response.

The washer is about 15 months old (just out of warranty). The error codes, according to the user's manual, are illuminated lights. Mine gives the code as indicated above plus all of the lights on the selector dial are illuminated. I've tried disconnecting the power for an extended period of time. When I reapply power and make any selection, it turns on the pump for a couple of minutes then goes back to the condition that I've described.

I not sure whats going on then, I haven't worked on the HE2 models yet, just the HE3 & HE4.

You can take off the bottom access panel below the door to see if the service sheet is mounted on the left or right side inner cabinet walls.

Other than that, you may need to contact Sears to have a tech. come out.

    Default resolution?

I'm curious to know if you found out what the problem was with your washer. Did you call Sears and what needed to be fixed?

I have owned my HE2 washer for 11 months and yesterday this exact problem started for me. I've tried everything I can think of and even placed water in the washer to see if it would drain - it does, then it errors out. Every time I try to start a wash cycle the drain pump kicks in and I get the drain error code (F21).

I've already scheduled a service appointment but it's a week out and I'm worried I'll go longer without the washer if a part needs to be ordered.

    Thanks,
    Derik

To make the long story short, I discovered that the pressure switch had internal shorted contacts. I call the service tech, he shipped a Pressure switch W10163980 to me, I changed it...problem gone. The best part of the story is that although the washer was "slightly" out of warranty, they honored it anyway.

Thanks Jake and Hojo. Sears came by my house today and the service tech also thought my problem was the pressure switch. He had one on his truck and replaced mine - problem solved!
