Default LG Washer (WM2077CW)

Anyone know anything good or bad on this machine? I think I saw that consumer reports gave LG good grades overall, and the fact it has a 7 year warranty on the motor and the drum must be a good thing too. I'm thinking it might be a better deal than the Canyon Oasis I was looking at, even though it seems quite a bit smaller. 3.71 cu ft vs. 4.5 cu ft.

Thanks everyone!

Motor will most likely never die, not many front loaders have actual motor problems. Motor control board problems, thats a different story. Stainless inner baskets don't typically go bad either, unless the rear bearing would happen to sieze up. I've worked on LG and the main reasons for the service calls seem to be installations/customer education calls. Decent unit as far as I can see, nothing major yet.

I decided to go with this one even though that Oasis had a 4.5 cu ft tub. This LG came with a 7 year warranty on the motor and the tub and a 3 year warranty on electronics. I don't believe any of the Sears models or GE, or Maytag models came with anything more than 1 year. I believe Consumer Reports had the LG washers doing quite well in one of the issues too.

Default LG mold / mildew issues

After using this machine for 5 months, we've got mold problems with our thick towels and with jeans. We never shut the door to the washer, and yet the towels just don't smell right, and once you dry off with it, it really stinks.

Just googling, it looks like there are lots of front loaders with this problem and I can't believe the number of "remedies" folks suggest to correct this. Anyone have suggestions?

Some of the things I'm contemplating are running a dishwasher product called Glisten through it, putting baking soda in the drum and running it, and putting vinegar in the dispenser. Not knowing much about how this could affect other parts of the washer, does concern me.

G'day,

JMO!

Vinegar eats rubber items....*I* wouldn't us it.

Glisten works ok and I have used it....mostly I use d/w powder detergent and bleach once in a while in my laundrymat front load washers to help freshen them up and prevent odours.
