I own a Roper washing machine that is at least 15 years old. It is a 2-spead large capacity washer. It stopped agitating and spinning. I assume this is a belt problem but I was wondering is there are any tips to diagnosing this. I've never tried to fix a washer before.
thanks in advance. John |

G'day,
Model#? Most ( not all ) Roper washers will not have a belt. See if the motor coupler is broken ( if like your mystery model ). http://www.applianceaid.com/procedures.html jeff.

Hey Jeff,
Thanks for the speedy reply! On the back of the washer I found this information: 3352223 Stolle Is that the model number? Also, if its the connector my inclination is to buy a new washer. My assumption is that a belt is easier to tighten or replace than a connector. thanks, John |

Model# -normally- is not on the back.

Changing a belt on a KitchenAid, Inglis, Roper, Whirlpool washer was much worse than changing a motor coupler!! Tightening a belt would be the easiest of all 3 jobs. jeff.

Hey Jeff,
I could be missing something in the instructions, but they seem to jump from removing the cabinet to being able to access, or at least check, the motor coupling. How do I get to it when the canister/drum is sitting on everything. thanks, John |

Hey Jeff,
I figured it out -- detached the pump and the motor, and am now holding a worn-smooth coupler. Now I just need a new one. John |
