Default White Westinghouse Lint filter

My daughter just bought a used White Westinghouse top loader washer model #LA500JXW5. She wants to use it but can't get the filter out to clean it [she says it is filthy]. Any ideas? Any Tricks? She does not have the manual. Could it be because the filter is so dirty?? Would appreciate any ideas.

Yes, its possible its just stuck in place with all the dirt/lint/grime. Just pull it up hard and it should come out.

Here is a new one for your model:

Default thanks for the response

Jake
I appreciate the advice on the lint filter-I have not seen it yet-I plan to visit our daughter next week and check it out for myself. Perhaps she is just not tugging on it hard enough. Glad to know there is not some trick to getting it out.
