    Default Elements testing 1 ohm 12 hours after replacing

    Model Number: E1F50RD045V
    Brand: Whirlpool
    Age: Less than 1 year

    Bought this water heater April 2012.
    -Tested original elements as follows: top 1 ohm and bottom 12 ohms. Both were 4500 watt
    -Bought two brand new 4500 watt elements
    -i replaced the top and bottom elements. The top was cracked and bowed and the bottom simply had a lot of sediment on it.
    -I allowed the tank to fill with the power off and then turned on.
    -We had hot water last night and now this morning have none.
    -Both elements are reading 1 ohm.
    -thermostat reads 240 v.

    How could they have both gone bad that fast?

    Thats very odd, Wish I knew the answer.

    That model# doesn't pull up even on Whirlpool's website.

    You may want to recheck it and see what your warranty is on it, most are 1 full year. Then I'd setup a service call to have Whirlpool come out and see whats going on.
