Hi,
Through reading this forum and manuals for machines that are close to mine, I've been able to strip down my Whirlpool dishwasher to the level of the food grater thingy. I can't figure out how to remove the grater, however. The housing that sat on top of the grater was caked with undissolved dishwashing soap and congealed grease. There also appears to be plant fibers and hair on the grater-grate. Thanks for any advice. I can't see any more screws to remove, so I imagine it is like a Chinese box puzzle and there is something I have to manipulate in a certain order, which, if I get wrong, will result in the looking glass substation flooding and the residents of the island never getting rescued and Desmond never reuniting with Penny. |

Ok, what I'm talking about is the food chopper, found on page 21 of this manual:
https://secured.whirlpool.com/Service/SrvTechAdm.nsf/2cd44500d572193285256a45004fd9d6/52521bdbd0ef763c85256cbc00520548/$FILE/8178022.pdf It looks like it is supposed to just lift out, but I can't figure it out. |

The spindle on the food chopper grate is spring loaded, so I was able to push and release the piece and clean it off. Lots of mysterious white fibers along with hair and vegetable fibers.
