    Default Whirlpool Ultimate Care II

I have a 7 yr old Quiet Wash, LSQ8543JQ0. It stops after the first cycle and you have to work the timer between each cycle to get it to advance. Based on your website, it appears may have a bad timer. Is the control board also bad? I want to order them ASAP and want to make sure I get the right parts!

No control board for your model, just the timer part#3953321

    That should fix your problem.

    Default Whirlpool Ultimate II

I received the new timer, installed it, and the washing machine still stops after filling and washing the first cycle. It doesn't drain and go thru rinse or spin. I'm baffled!

Thats odd, the timer should have fixed it.

Now when you close your lid, do you hear a clicking sound just before your lid closes?

Possibly a intermittent lid switch issue.

    Default That did it!

I made sure the lid closed, and clicked, and was able to have full load of wash complete. Now, what do I do with the new timer? Possible to return it? Looks like I may need a lid switch instead!

Yes, if you ordered it from the link posted in post#2 in this thread, then you have a full refund if you return it within 30 days.

Here's the lid switch for your model:
