    Default Whirlpool Duet GEW9250PW1 Dryer

I have the above dryer. A couple of weeks ago the drum light started to only work intermittently then it stopped working completely about a week ago. Today I opened the door and the light flashed on for about a second. Then when I tried to start the dryer, although the display panel looks like normal, when I press start the error beep sounds like it does when the door is not closed properly. I have checked the door and it seems to be closed correctly. I ran the diagnostics check and it gave me the error code 6E which I can't seem to find reference to anywhere. Can anyone help?

Check the door switch with an ohm meter. It sounds like you might need a new one, Part# 8519323

Thank you so much. We had worked out the door switch problem after many hours on the internet but couldn't find the part number anywhere. You must be a mind reader!

OK we received the door switch and when my husband was installing it a wire came loose from the electronic control panel (part number 8559431) on the back of the control dial. We can't see any obvious place to re attach it and don't want to do any harm by guessing. I can't find a picture of the control panel and wiring anywhere. Can anyone help?

I should add that it was the 6 wire connector that came loose.

Which wire came loose? What color is it and where does the other end go to?

It was a conector clip with 6 wires attached to it that came loose. 5 wires are white and the 6th is black. the other end of the wire is attached to another electrical circuit board situated inside the casing to the left of the drum. Hope that helps. The dryer was working when we attached the new switch but of course now it doesn't. I think we are not destined to be lucky people!

OK," The Machine Control Electronics" runs along the top left side. The "Console Electronics" is in front behind the controls. Did the end of the ribbon connector come off of the Console Electronics? One good thing about those type connectors is they will only go on one way to the matching connector on the board (without forcing it). Look for a six pin connector on the board . There is probably only one.

Unfortunately there are 2. One runs horizontally and one runs diagonally.
