Default Whirlpool Duet -gas won't stay on

    Model Number: GGW9200LW1
    Brand: Whirlpool
    Age: 6-10 years

My gas dryer stopped drying the loads. After investigation, the ignighter glows, the gas valve opens and the gas ignights. The gas burns very clean. The gas burns till it hits the high limit switch and shuts off. The chamber cools and the low limit switch trips and the ignighter starts to glow again, I hear a click but no gas and no flame.

Tested the resistance at the gas valve coils and found terminal 1&2 okay, 1&3 okay and 4 to 5 at 1328 ohms (allowable 1220 +- 50).

Now here's the part I'm confused about, from a cold dryer the gas will ignight, but once warm/hot it won't, even if you turn it off and restart a new cycle. The only way the gas will light is from cold.

    Any help is appreciated.

Pull the dryer out from the wall and take off the exhaust hose from the back of it, then try a test run with no clothes in it and see if the flame cycles on and off then on/off again through the cycle like it should, if its still doing the same thing, then your gas coils are shot:

Sorry I forgot to mention that the dryer vent was unhooked at the dryer.

Ok, then new gas coils should fix it.

I've found when the gas coils get weak they start to swell from the heat and the needle valve won't fit into the coil.
