Default KitchenAid electric dryer doesn't start

    Model Number: KEHS02RMT1
    Brand: KitchenAid
    Age: 6-10 years

I have a question about our 8 years old KitchenAid electric dryer that doesn’t start, model # KEHS02RMT1. This dryer has control lights on the front panel where we can select different heat levels or cycles so we can’t select anything and buttons are not responding. There are no flashing lights on the main control panel, not any type of error messages or beeping sounds. There is nothing turns on when we press any knobs. There is only light inside the dryer when we open the dryer door. We changed the main control board (P/N 8546219) to the new one and it still doesn’t work. Is there any way to check the control board? Is there anything else that we need to check?

Yes, its your user interface button/buttons are shorted causing this issue.

Here's the user interface for your model you can order here:

Here is the online repair manual for the Whirlpool Duet dryer(Your KitchenAid is the identical to this one):

    Give it time to download.

Page 4-4 shows you how to remove the control panel touchpad assembly.
