Red face Whirlpool dryer for Thin Twin - Not Heating

I have a Whirlpool Thin Twin stackable washer/dryer. The dryer is running and tumbling, but it is not heating. What could be the cause of this issue?

Thanks!!!

Most likely you have a thermal fuse or element that has failed, but we need the complete model number to give you more detailed assistance. Post back and we can get you going in the correct direction.

Start by checking the power at the terminal block (where the wire harness connects) on the back of the dryer and verify you have 240vac between the red and black wires. If you don't, stop and check your circuit breakers. If you do, disconnect the power and remove the rear panel of the dryer. Once off, the element will be on the lower right side and on the bottom middle will the thermal fuse. Use your meter to check continuity through the fuse and the element (remove one wire before checking) to veryify which one has failed. If they check good, there is also a high limit thermostat near the element on the side of the housing and an operating thermostat by the thermal fuse to check. One of those items is most likely the culprit.

I have the same issue, suddenly the dryer spins but there is no power. I don't know which exact model I have, but it is a whirlpool thin twin. Thanks for any help you can provide!

Continuity means it shorts, showing up on the ohm meter. Forgive my poor terminology, I am not an electrical kinda guy. Only one measurement didn't show up on the multimeter, but I don't even know what that means, which were good and which were bad. Thanks for any help you can provide

When you say no power, I assume you mean no heat. The item with the red and black wires where you measured nothing is the thermal fuse and if it is reading as an open circuit, that is your problem. A simple test is to unplug the unit, then connect the two wires together from the thermal fuse, then making sure they do not touch the chassis, plug the unit back into the outlet. Start the dryer and see if there is heat. If so, you have your answer. If not, then time to dig deeper, but from your photo, I think that will be your problem. And if indeed that is the solution, check your venting for a restriction of some sort as that is possibly the reason why that component failed in the first place.

Before I do something stupid, let me make sure I understand you correctly. The red/black pair that I measured as being open (no measurement on the ohm meter) need to be disconned and connected directly together, bypassing the fuse, just to test and make sure it is in fact that fuse that is the issue... If that works, then I need to replace the fuse and reconnect?

OK, I did that, or kinda that. What I actually did was remove the black wire altogether and move the red wire from the fuse to where the other end of the black wire went to. Thank you so much!

The heat does indeed turn back on. But it is REALLY hot. I am thinking it is running hotter than it should. How hot should it be?

Again, thank you for getting everything working again. Could you point me to a place where I can get a replacement?
