Default dryer

sometimes the timer knob moves and dryer shuts off normally and sometimes the time doesn't move at all and runs until manually shutting off. Will a new timer resolve this problem or could it be something else?

Whats the model# of your dryer smonski? Its located inside the dryer door or on the top console.

Does this happen on auto-dry or timed-dry?

Thanks. My next question is how do I install it? 30 minutes? Would you buy a used timer at half the price?

Nope, never buy used parts, thats a big NO-NO in the appliance business.

To install it, just remove the end cap console screws#8 then the console will slide forward and lift up, then take off the console back access panel#1.

Take off the knob#20, then make down where all the wires connect to on the old timer, and re-connect them the same on the new timer.

Remove the timer mounting screws#9 and put in the new timer.

Make sure you unplug your dryer before doing any of this!

Jake, I replaced the timer and it is working on timed dry. My wife's only remarks are that the timer is louder (???) and that the sensor dry is not working. I think at one point we had a ventilation issue when the dryer was pushed against the wall but that has been cleared up.

Glad its working again on timed dry.

If auto-dry isn't working its likely the electronic control board is bad as well, don't know how much you want to spend on it, its about $112:
Manufacturer's Number: 8558178

But you use on timed forever if you don't want to put any more money into it, and it will still work fine.

also found this part used delivered for less than $10 if that is the problem. Gotta be worth a try with 90 warranty and free returns??
