Default Whirlpool Calypso Dryer (GEW9868KQ0)

I have a Whirlpool Calypso Dryer (GEW9868KQ0) and it has been working great until yesterday.

It will not heat now. I cleaned all the lint out of it and my vent. Nothing but cold air comes out. I opened up the heating element door and the element isn't getting hot. Nothing but cold air coming out of the back vent. The heating element looks good. I don't see any burns or open wires. Is the heating element bad or could there be something else wrong with the dryer? How do I troubleshoot this problem?

Thanks.

Hi,

You can get a cheap volt/ohm meter at Radio Shack.

If your dryer is getting 220/240 volts and just runs and no heat, then its either your thermal cut-off or element thats bad.

This link will guide you to how to take it apart to access your thermal cut-off thermostat on the heater housing and heater itself:

You would need an ohm meter to test continuity on your thermal cut-off#47 here:

Also ohm your heating element for continuity too.

Unplug your dryer first before doing this!

Here's another help link:

Here's the thermal cut-off#47 for your model:
Manufacturer's Number: 279769

279769

Here's the heating element#14:
Manufacturer's Number: 3387747
3387747
