I'm in the process of doing some repairs on our Whirlpool washer. I'm changing the bearings and seals in the tub support. Whirlpool recommends putting Rykon grease (pink) on the seals and bearings to prevent wear to the tube spin shaft and agitator shaft. The only problem is that this grease is very expensive to buy from appliance parts stores, about $25-$50 for 4 ounces.I don't know if 4 ounces is enough and would like to know if there is somewhere else I could buy it and buy a larger amount. Do I have to use this grease or can I use something else that is comparable to this? They also recommend putting a small amount of turbine oil down the shaft after the seals are in. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Steve,
What parts are you replacing from this parts diagram of your tub support: ![]() To tell you the truth, I've never had to change any of these parts execept for the #18 suspension pads - Manufacturer's Number: 285744 So I'm not quite sure about what grease to tell you to get, you can go to your local appliance parts store and ask them, they should know. Jake

Jake,
Everything you see in #24. There are 2 bearings and 5 seals. I have to replace the brake and drive tube because it is grooved very bad where the seals and bearings are. I guess that is why Whirlpool recommends putting grease on them. Thanks, Steve |
