Default [FIXED] Whirlpool LER5636EQ3 Dead

I have a Whirlpool dryer that totally died...

I took out my volt ohm meter and it has voltage to the unit.

I checked the On/Off push to start button and with the Ohm meter it shows that the switch is working.

The timer side seems to be "Ticking" but that that is the extent that I have checked it out.

I took off the back and did not see any obvious loose wires etc.

What else would you do to trouble shoot this?

I don't have a repair manual, but there was a wire diagram inside.

Any help would be appreciated.

It's not worth calling in a repair man as this dryer is already more than a few years old and if its not easily repairable, Its going in the trash.

Thanks for your help!

Hi,

Its likely your thermal fuse.

Pull your dryer away from the wall, then Unplug it, then take off the back access panel and you can ohm it for continuity or take the wires off and jump it, use alligator clips or electrical tape to tape them together, just for testing, DON'T RUN IT THAT WAY FOR A CYCLE IF IT WORKS!

Here is a photo of the back of your dryer without the back access panel on:

#5 is your white thermal fuse.

Here's the thermal fuse for your model in case you need to order it:
Manufacturer's Number: 3392519
3392519

The main reason the thermal fuse blows is air flow restrictions in your exhaust hose that goes to the outside of your home, lint build-up over the years effects the air flow, also go outside and check your dryer vent, that can clog up too.

Default Fixed!

Jake,

You did it AGAIN!

Went back to my rental house and pulled off the two leads from the resister. Took some electrical tape to tape both ends together and IT CAME TO LIFE!

Went to my local Appliance store and they had the part. Thanks for posting the part number you made my life easy. A little more ($13.96 + tax ) than the part you posted, but no shipping and I got it fixed tonight! Everything is back together, vents all cleaned out and working GREAT!

You made me happy and most of all my Renter is VERY HAPPY!

I have to say this Forum is the Best for us DIYers.

Thanks again!

Mike
