Default New Thumping whirlpool dryer

We just bought a brand new Whirlpool Duet Sport Ht gas dryer Model# WGD8500SR2. Immediately on the first load the dryer thumps quite loudly, I would estimate it to be at the speed of the drum. Figured it may be because it is new and had been sitting. It has never gotten any better. Any ideas? Just don't want to go through the hassle of setting up a service call only to find out that this is normal for this model etc etc.

Sometimes when a brand new dryer comes out of the factory and sits awhile in a warehouse it will develop "flat spots" on the drum rollers.

The only solution is to have Whirlpool come out and install new drum rollers for free.

Default Update

Repair company came in and agreed the thumping wasn't right. He said it looked like a drum problem, so he ordered a new drum and rollers. We felt that a two week old machine should be replace completely. Whirlpool said they couldn't get the parts for at least 3 - 4 weeks, so they opted to replace the whole machine. Guess what, the new one thumps as bad as the old one! When the dryer is running you can look in at the back of the drum and see that it is out of round. One area on the rear lip of the drum is closer to the stationary centre and as it comes around to about the 9:00 O'clock position it thumps. Does anyone know if whirlpool had a bad run of drums, seems awful suspicious that I have had two nisy drums and that particular part is on back order.

Yes, I've seen parts come out in a bad batch from the factory. Just tell them they need to keep replacing it till you get one thats not out-of-round or get your money back and get a different brand.
