Default [FIXED] Whirlpool LGQ9858LWO - Heat Turns Off

Jake,

Heat turns off after about 5 minutes.

Checked the venting - clean
Checked the fuse - fine
Checked continuity in the thermostats - fine

So, based on reading other posts, I'm thinking it's the coils. I dismantled the front last night to get a look at the burner but as the drum started to slide I quickly pushed the front panel back together.

What do you think?

(and if testing the continuity of the coils is my next step, any suggestions on how to keep the drum in place when removing the front plate?? Last thing I need is for the drum to slide out of place onto the floor!)

Yes, it sounds like the gas coils are bad.

You can use a big block or 2X4 to hold the dryer drum in place once the front panel is removed.

You can test the gas coils for continuity, but even if it tests good, the gas coil solenoid inside can still be bad and "sticking" on you when it first heats then doesn't heat any more after 5 minutes.

So the chances its the gas coils being bad is extremely likely.

Here's the gas coil kit for your model you can order:

Excellent, good job fixing your dryer.

Sorry, don't have a clue about how to fix mixers.
