Default [FIXED] Whirlpool AccuDry problem

Re: Whirlpool Model #WED5860SW0

When using AccuDry setting, clothes will continue to dry in any setting in this cycle, but timer doesn't advance. Clothes are hot and temperature seems constant.

When turning knob to both wrinkle shield settings, the timer works. Timed drying works fine.
Haven't done any troubleshooting yet. Don't have a detailed manual.
Dryer exhaust pipe is free and clear and lint filter is cleaned after every use.

Hi,

If your absolutely sure your vent is clear and lots of air is blowing outside good, then its likely your control board thats bad, which causes the timer not to advance in auto-dry.

Part#3390537
Electronic dryness control board
(The manufacturer has replaced part number 3390537 with this item, part number 8558178.)

Smile AccuDry Problem Response

The vent is good. I replaced the outside cover recently with a free flowing vent so alot of unrestricted air flow. I'll also check the wiring to control board. Moisture sensor not likely to fail?

Thabnks alot for your fast reply,

Dennis

No Dennis, I don't think I've ever seen the moisture sensor fail itself.

Default AccuDry Problem

Jake,

I agree with your sensor response. I have found, that most electronic circuit board failures generally occur during the so called "burn in" period. Guess 24 months for dryer control boards falls within this time frame! Nowadays, I'm not surprised. I appreciate your help! I'll post again when dryer is working.

Thanks,

Dennis

Sounds good Dennis, and if you order the part from the link I posted above and it doesn't fix the problem, you can return it within 30 days for a FULL refund.

Jake,

I pulled the dryer out and cleaned out the lint in the exhaust and hose. Although free flowing, there was quite a bit of lint. After seeing this, I will clean out once a year. The control board has two burned resistors. Has the new part #. Found take off boards old # from an outfit in Florida. Since really cheap, I ordered 2. Will see.

tks,
Dennis

Ok Dennis,

You can order it from the link I posted above, just to be on the safe side. Part#3390537

Are the 2 boards you ordered have a warranty in case they don't work? Sometimes if you find a control board alot cheaper, it may be either used or something, I'd be careful.
