Since you were so helpful on previous occasions with my refrigerator, I thought I would come back and ask about my washer.
My Whirlpool Washer LSQ9264HQ0 overflows the basket sporadically. The washer starts filling the basket automatically but sometimes does not shut off the supply, and the water runneth over. This problem currently occurs a small percentage of the time, but once is enough for a nice flood. Do you have any suggestions for what I should do/replace? I cannot make the problem happen on purpose, which makes it difficult to troubleshoot. Thanks! |

When it overflows do you have to manually turn the water faucets off to make the water stop?
If so, then its likely the water inlet valve. I always remove the cabinet to get better access to that water inlet valve, this link explains how to, read#2 here: http://www.applianceaid.com/procedures.html Here's the water inlet valve for your model: Manufacturer's Number: 285805 Jake

Thanks for the assistance. I have one more symptom to mention. After talking with my wife, she mentioned that the water sometimes does not fill up to the selected level. For example, if she selects Small Load, the water may fill up to a large load level. A couple days ago, she selected Medium Load and it shut off just seconds from overflowing the basket.
Do these symptions still point toward the water inlet valve as the cause? |

Yes possibly, but I really need to know:
When it overflows do you have to manually turn the water faucets off to make the water stop? Or if you pull the plug on your washer while its filling does the water stop? Jake

I finally did some more testing, and both methods will turn off the water.
I can pull the plug on the washer while its filling and it will stop the water. I can also manually turn the water faucets off to make the water stop. |

Ok thanks,
Possibly a bad water level pressure switch thats working intermittently, thus not allowing the water to shut off at times. Here's the water level pressure switch for your model: Manufacturer part number 3366847 is RepairClinic item number 2680 3366847Jake

I ordered and replaced the water level pressure switch a few weeks ago, and it seems to have resolved the problem. We still need to keep an eye on the washer as it fills to make sure it doesn't overflow, but the problem has not occurred since I replaced the switch.
Thanks for the help! |
