Default Kitchenaid KAWS850LT1 overflows

My mom has a 2004 KAWS850LT1 superba washer and now when it hits the rinse cycle the water does not shutoff and it overflows. If we put it into the spin cycle it stops filling and then it will drain. I was thinking it was the water level switch #3950420 or leak in the hose but the person at the local parts store said this model has a specific problem and I need to replace the wiring harness # 3956131 ($100+) and the switch #3955761 ($100+). Any advice and information on how to trouble shoot would be greatly appreciated.

Scott

Hi Scott,

Does it overflow only in the rinse cycle?

Next time unplug the washer and see if the water stops, if it doesn't then its a bad water inlet valve.

Let me know what happens.

Jake, we unpluged the washer during the rinse cycle while it was filling. It stopped filling. We then plugged it back in and it started filling again and then went into the agitate part of the rinse cycle and it never quit filling so we had to put it into spin. thanks again.

Was it agitating and continuing to fill?

If it wasn't agitating and just kept on filling that would indicate that either the water level pressure switch is bad or the clear hose that connects to it from the outer tub assembly has broke or come off.

Also take off the clear pressure switch hose and blow in the nipple of your water level pressure switch, if you don't hear a click sound when you blow into it, you will need to replace it.

Also blow through your clear water level pressure switch hose that goes down to your tub, I've seen some clog at the end at the tub and cause this too.

Here is the water level pressure switch for your model, in case you need to order it:
Manufacturer's Number: 3366845

Here's the clear plastic hose for the water level pressure switch:
Manufacturer's Number: 353244

Jake, yes it was agitating and continuing to fill. It does not stop filling. So is this caused by something other than the water level switch or hose going bad?

Ok, on this model you have the triple dispenser, is it continuing to fill while its agitating at the front dispensers? or the main water inlet towards the rear of the tub?

Also pull the plug while its agitating and filling and tell me what happens.
