Default Another Whirlpool Duet Noise Question

I'm the latest moron to discover what happens when you put a front-load washer in a first floor laundry. This would be a Duet Sport, the one with the "new six point suspension system to reduce noise and vibration". I guess that means it sounds like a jack-hammer instead of an industrial drop-forge.

But seriously, some questions. First, aside from the horrible shaking & vibrating during the spin cycle, there's a loud squeak coming from one section of the machine, specifically at the top of the front left side. Is that normal, also?

Will this shaking and pounding shorten the life of the unit?

I tried using anti-vibration pads under the legs; they didn't help. The floor is well supported underneath; it's a new, well built home, and a support beam is close to it. Is the bottom line that this is just a fact of life for this type of unit and we'll have to live with it?

A&E Factory service has looked at three times, and Whirlpool is sending a different outfit for a "second opinion".

Unfortunately, the only thing that will stop it from vibrating so much is to move it to a cement/concrete floor or build a cement slab just where it sits. But I know it would be very costly to have that done.

It almost sounds like there is still a shipping brace/bracket that was accidentally left in it?

Each tech has looked for a leftover shipping bolt, so that base was covered.

Ok, Just making sure.

Maybe we can get some owners of this washer to post here any solutions they have found on this vibrating/shaking issue.

Jake, is it possible that the drum is out of balance? I assume that balance is electronically adjusted, because it goes through a "routine" of checking weight and clothing distribution before spinning. Each tech has punched the control buttons a certain way to get diagnostic codes, and nothing turned up.

By the way, what's with the pump cavitation? I know it's normal, but the cycle seems to go longer than necessary and it's just pumping air. Is that how those machines are usually set up?

Its possible your have a defective tub causing all this. I have seen 'out of round' tubs in washer & dryers before when they are new.

Unfortunately Yes, most front loaders have this after the water has drained.

Ok, that's interesting (about the out-of-round tub). I'll bring that up when the tech visits. How obvious is that defect?

Its not to obvious, you really have to look at the tub very closely while spinning it slowly.
