    Angry Whirlpool Washer Buyers Beware!!

In March 2006 I purchased a very expensive Whirlpool Duet
washing machine. I moved into my new home and started using the machine in May. Today, on November 29, 2006 I washed a load of delicate clothes (a small load) only to hear water gushing all over my laundry room
floor. It took me an hour to clean the floor, an hour to wring the clothes out and it took the Whirlpool dryer also purchased at the time over two hours to dry them. A pair of nice pants and a blouse was ruined of course and will never be useful again. This was a six month old washer!!!

    Consumers please BEWARE!

Default Whirlpool Duet Washer, The Worst Ever Made

March 2006 I purchased from Lowe's in Epping, New Hampshire a Whirlpool Duet washer and dryer. I had the combo delivered where it sat in the box until I moved into my new home in Montpelier, Virginia in May. So since May I have used the washer and dryer. On Tuesday, November 28th the washer flooded my laundry room and the door remained locked with the motor running but nothing happening. I unplugged the machine but still the door remained locked with water running out of it. I plugged it back in and the motor started running again but the machine was doing nothing.

My husband left work early, came home and helped me clean up the water, unlock the door, remove the soppy wet clothes and we then called Lowe's on Pump Road in Richmond, Virginia (804-364-5975). Lowe's at first were very nice and gave us three companies in all of Richmond that would repair our washer under warranty. After three phone calls to two of the repair companies there is no answer. The third company made an appointment with A/E Service (800-905-9505) to come out a week later, to be Tuesday, December 5th to look at the machine. They did not know if they could fix it but they could come and look at it. If it needs a part or needs replaced then there will be an additional time.

Since I felt this was unacceptable (I really like clean clothes you see), I called Lowe's back and they told me that they could not offer any assistance it was Whirlpools problem and that actually a week is a pretty good time frame for Whirlpool. This was told to me by Ken, an appliance department manager.

Whirlpool (or Cesspool as I now refer to you), this doesn't seem like a reasonable amount of time to me and as disappointed as I am in Lowe's I am also disappointed that your products last barely SIX MONTHS and in a medium size city there is approximately one person that can repair them. If you are going to continue to manufacture such poorly made products wouldn't it be a great idea to train some repairmen or women to help poor victims such as myself.

Needless to say I won't be buying another whirlpool product of any kind, nor will I be shopping at Lowe's at any time in

Yes, I know this is a very bad experience, many people have experienced similar situations with other brands and stores, its not limited to just Whirlpool.

We have a over 100 posts and over 10,000 page views on the Frigidaire/Kenmore 417 Front-Load washer models:
[FIXED] Drum Gasket and Rear Shell Bearings
Worse of all, most of these were not even in warranty, as yours is.

I'm not excusing the poor Lowe's/A&E service, OR even the Whirpool problem that happened, but if a machine is going to break, its better for it to break under warranty, than 2 or 3 years after the warranty.
